Reception

The film received mostly negative reviews from film critics, who criticized the film for its writing, pace, and unrealistic situations, but praised the film for its visuals and ensemble performances.

Anna M. M. Vettikad of Firstpost gave the film 1 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Slow motion Ajay Devgn does little for a goddamn [sic] dull war saga anyway". He criticized the writing of the script, saying, "Terrible writing, sleep-inducing direction, and some really bad acting - there's so much wrong with Bhuj: The Pride of India that it doesn't make sense to deeply analyze its politics. " He concluded "Bhuj: The Pride of India clearly doesn't want to be like either of these two films [referring to Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Shershaah], but it [a] has its own disadvantages of being hormonally charged. Fails miserably even in the attempt, flag-waving, chest-beating, cliched nationalist entertainment. Yawning."

NDTV's Saibal Chatterjee gave the film a 1.5-star rating and criticized the acting and writing. He summarized the film. "Busy in collecting the scattered pieces of your insignificant thoughts made infinitely worse by the ham-fisted treatment."

Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express also gave the film 1 out of 5 stars, "Screaming high on the slogan, Ajay Devgn film almost hides its real heroes", "Toplined by Ajay Devgn, the film on jingoistic jingle jangles very heavy" and shouted that it has almost succeeded in hiding the 300 women who have achieved this incredible feat.

Soumya Srivastava of Hindustan Times wrote, "Ajay Devgn's chest-beating, the gunpowder-sniffing film sees Radhe fight for the worst crown of the year."

The Hindu described the film as an "ultra-nationalistic, scathing and old-fashioned action entertainer".

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and called it "exciting", "Bhuj is a big screen, massively engaging spectacle. The scale, star power, and stunning visuals leave you spellbound." He praised Nora Fatehi's performance and concluded that Bhuj would have done a great job if it had been released in theatres.

Anupama Chopra of Film Companion wrote, "The characters are stick figures who repeatedly declare their love for the motherland."
