Vaji City's underworld crime boss Narantak Roy died in a deliberate car accident in Mumbai.Devraj, the son of a former crime boss, declares himself the next crime syndicate leader.Ibrahim Roy tells the group's legal advisor Kalki that Roy's family has been murdered twice, and he has been uncovering a secret for 25 years.The secret was that they had a son named Vishwank.Vishwank foils Devraj's plans to succeed his father as the next boss.Vishwank is determined to expose his father's killer.

The story turns to India, where a mastermind easily steals nearly two trillion rupees.A nationwide search operation is being conducted to find the culprit.Undercover agent Ashok Chakraborty, who is highly secretive, has been appointed as the search head.Working with Amrita Nair, an officer he likes, they uncover a thief named Jai and implicate him as a criminal.Amrita and Ashok fall in love.

During the mission to catch Jai red-handed, a chase ensues in which Amrita, Ashok and David (a hacker) confront Jai.However, in a twist, it is revealed that the thief "Jai" is the real undercover police officer Ashok Chakraborty: the chief officer who has been with him the whole time is actually the real thief who stole two trillion rupees, Saaho.Saaho runs away with his partner David, Amrita, along with the entire police department, is stunned.

Production

The film was produced on a budget of ₹350 crore.The film was shot in Austria, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Romania and other parts of Europe.Principal photography began in August 2017.Arun Vijay, Jackie Shroff, Laal, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mandira Bedi were paired with Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor.A major chunk of the budget was spent on shooting the action sequences in the film.International stunt coordinator Kenny Bates was brought in to choreograph the action sequences.Arun Vijay grew his hair to portray his character in Saaho.

The first schedule of the film, which was in Hyderabad, was completed by October 2017.The second schedule of the film began in December 2017 at Ramoji Film City.According to the makers of the film, Shraddha Kapoor shot the action sequences in the film with heavy weapons.After a few days, they moved to Dubai for a month, where some key action sequences were shot with Prabhas and Neil Nitin Mukesh, while Shraddha Kapoor switched to her next venture, Stree.After shooting half of the film in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Dubai, the cast and crew of Saaho began with the fourth schedule of the film in Abu Dhabi in February 2018 and ended in a matter of weeks.The fifth schedule of the film, also in Abu Dhabi, began in late February.The sixth schedule of the film began in mid-March in Dubai and Romania.The final stages of the film and romantic songs were shot in Innsbruck and the Tyrol region of Austria.

One action sequence, which spans an exceptionally long length of the screenplay, was shot extensively near the Burj Khalifa;25 crore has been spent out of the budget.Prabhas had undergone rigorous training, which included cardiovascular and weight training, and plyometric hurdles.Prabhas praised his co-star Shraddha Kapoor saying that she was the best choice for his character.She holds a strong character in the film, while Prabhas' character is a grey-shaded fictional character.He plays a cop who will keep the audience guessing till the end.

Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant shot two romantic songs.Shooting initially began in the Austrian alpine city of Innsbruck, including the House of Music and Tram in Innsbruck, the Finstertal and the Adler Hotel in Kühtai.Some scenes were also filmed in the nearby town of Seefeld.Additionally, romantic songs were shot on the "Top of Tyrol" viewing platform on the Stubai Glacier, at the restaurant Ice Q in Sölden, Swarovski Crystal Worlds, and on the Highline 179 suspension bridge in Rutte in the Tyrol region.The production also shot parts of a romantic song at Redbull's Hangar 7 at Salzburg Airport.Robinville and Creative Creatures Austria were service producers for the schedule.

Prabhas's first look poster from the film was revealed on his birthday on 22 October 2017, which received criticism, alleging that it was similar to the poster of Blade Runner 2049.In July 2019, UV Creations announced the release date as 30 August 2019, in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil languages.

Saaho - The Game, a first person shooter mobile game created by Hyderabad based company Pixalot Labs, was released on 15 August 2019.

Release

Sahoo was distributed in North India by T-Series, while SPI Cinemas bought the distribution rights for Tamil Nadu.The film was released internationally by Yash Raj Films and Fars Films.The film was released worldwide on 30 August 2019 with a Malayalam version dubbed in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.A dubbed Kannada version was later released on Amazon Prime.

Lawsuit

Outshine India, a company that makes luggage and bags, filed a complaint and suit at Madhapur Police Station for cheating/cheating against the Director and several staff members.The producers alleged that the filmmakers signed an expensive deal with them, which required their product to be featured in the film;He alleged that the filmmakers missed their promise.He claimed that the marketing, advocate and contract fees and the amount paid to the filmmakers resulted in a total loss of ₹1.38 crore.

The film has received generally negative reviews.Review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported an approval rating of 9% based on 11 reviews with an average rating of 3.85/10.

India Today's Lakshna N Palt has given Saaho one and a half stars out of five, describing it as a "350 crore disaster" and that it is a "labour and exhausting watch".She has stated that "Saaho's saving grace are the scenes and the high-octane action sequences" and that "the producers were so enamored with the action sequences and Prabhas's starring presence that they forgot the story and character development midway".

Writing for The Times of India, Thinkal Menon gave Saaho two and a half stars out of five, praising the technical aspects while criticizing the script.Menon additionally stated how the film was "extensively dubbed into Tamil, causing lip-sync problems".Gave one and a half stars out of five.

A reviewer from Bollywood Hungama gave it a score of two and a half out of five, considering that it "suffers from a lackluster script and a blank screenplay."CNN-News18's Rajeev Masand gave the film one and a half out of five stars;While he praised Prabhas for "heavy presence and unmistakable honesty", Masand felt the film has "all the depth and emotional wallop of a video game".

Saaho grossed ₹130 crore (US$18 million) worldwide on its opening day, the second highest ever for an Indian film, surpassing 2.0's opening of ₹117 crore (US$16 million). But Prabhas's previous film is less than Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (₹212 crore), which holds the record for the highest opening Indian film.After the second day, the worldwide collection was ₹220 crore. The film earned ₹294 crore (US$41 million) worldwide in its opening weekend and ₹370 crore (US$52 million) in its first week worldwide.Saaho crossed Rs 400 crore (US$ 56 million) on day 10, its net collection in India was 302 crores by the end of its theatrical run.
